The Nerds' Table

Attention fic writers:
"This comm is NOW for fanfic writers who like to write original characters within ANY sci-fi/fantasy 'verse of their choice. Indeed, we're going "beyond Trek"; we also encourage writers to feature characters of color in the roles protagonists and explore complex themes in their story lines."

~ Mission Statement of the Nerds' Table
Originally built for fic writers who wanted to write strictly original fiction for Star Trek, the Nerds' Table (link on the right) is now open to any 'verse in the sci-fi/fantasy genre.  That's right, folks; we are returning to our LiveJournal roots.  It's where I met most of you fine folks, and it's time for us to wax nostalgic, yeah?

By the way, completely originally 'verses are welcome.  Just indicate that the work is original, post preferably under your author name, and link back to your regular website so people will understand that you WILL sue.  Just get you a journal and write your hearts out!

  1. sweet a place for my Jung Jihoon fic.

  2. The only way I can enter the screenplay contest is by completing my original story first as I do not wish to write a screenplay for someone else's work. When it is done, I'm definitely going to share that particular piece online. I'll be able to kill two birds with one stone as it will be blasian literature of sorts.

  3. I have a question.

I'm not familiar with live journal, but I have this blasian story. It involves Rain, but as a normal person, as Jihoon. It's not fantasy, it's more real life.

I'm assuming it can be posted at this Nerd's Table site, but do I need to make a profile for that? Do I submit it to the live journal site?
Reason I ask is because the fan fiction already on there, links to fanfiction.net, which I'm very familiar with. However I don't know where it would go fandom wise. Only fandom on there having to do with Rain is Ninja Assassin. So yea I'm kinda confused.

I would really appreciate being pointed in the right direction. I am trying to figure it out on my own, but just thought i'd ask.

  4. First off, YAY!! *dusts off LJ page* Let's go back. Waay back!

To the commenter above (I apologize for not being able to recognize your name), I would go over to LiveJournal and create your own. You can write anything you want in your journal and post a link to your page here. That way you don't have to worry about appropriate fandoms because it's your very own work. If people like your story, they will link to it.

I'll be going back to my LJ roots when I start writing again. If you need any more help, do not hesitate to ask.

  5. @Amaya

    The name says Doshi (dough-she).

@Doshi (sorry my keyboard doesn't type Korean)
That's a good question about Fanfiction.net. The easiest way is to make your own livejournal like Amaya said. I may have to do the same for my story.

  6. k awesome

by the way lol on live journal my name is "qoshi_d"
I joined the nerd table community.
sadly my username can't be in hangul and my name in romanized letters was already taken lol...so "qoshi_d" it is.

thanks you guys for the help!

  7. *sniffle*

I'm excited to go back. For literature, of course.

Ahem...some of you may find some stuff I wrote on there back in the day. Um, it's pretty blush-worthy, so just go on ahead and ignore that.

In the meantime, I can't wait to see what some of you come up with.

    @ Doshi

The genre is sci-fi/fantasy, so you may have to make some changes to your story for this site (sorry).

  8. oh ok :(

erm can't change the story I had in mind. It's sort've already solidified.

I don't really have any sci-fi/fantasy stories in mind.

    thanks for telling me.
