So snap!! It looks great. Once I get paid I'm going to donate. This is how it has to be as minorities. We want something, we have to make it ourselves!
All I needed to know was if the characters were gonna be Asian! I was a little nervous when he said the production was "Montreal-based" and the camera immediately panned to a white guy. I was SO pleased with the website though, as it cleared up any reservations I had. It specifically states that they are looking for actors of Asian descent. I am also glad Asians are spear-heading the production in general. I totally agree with Miss Erica H. If we want something we have GOT to do it ourselves!
All I needed to know was if the characters were gonna be Asian! That pretty much sums up my reaction as well.
Now this I would support. Too many times have I damn near wept at the crap HollyWTF tries to pass off as adaptations of anime.
Is it strange that I nearly cried tears of joy when I saw this? Especially these bits: "We are looking for non-union actors of asian descent, ideally Japanese... Please feel comfortable enough to apply even if you don’t speak perfect English." *still crying*Although I'd be curious to see how many white aspiring actors will simply gloss over the fact that they're looking for people of asian descent when they see "male 15-25, around 5’8”, slim, athletic, expressive, cocky". I can just see them swaggering in now...
Not strange, just wonderful.
Is it strange that I nearly cried tears of joy when I saw this? This is a beautiful project. I'm in awe and I have every intention of donating.
This makes me happy. I only hope and pray that they'll turn out a movie that will shine above and beyond and OUTCLASS the eventual HollyWTF whitewashed remake.
If it's gonna be done right, you gotta do it yourself. <3F* Hollywhite
