  1. Supernatural epics, cos what's a story without wild imagination?

  2. Hollywood has run roughshod over a lot of my favourite genres for a while, but I like a great thriller, mystery, and action film. I've been a sucker for whodunits for how long, and I like action for when I just want to kick back and let off some steam. It has to have brain to go with the brawn, though, or else I get bored quickly. I also like good foreign films, the rare chance I get t see one on cable since Netflix is still iffy for the English speaking Caribbean.

I also like great supernatural/horror. Great psychological horror, though; I'm not a fan of torture porn or the '5 college friends go XYZ'. The state of that trope has gotten to point where i end up rooting for whatever's The Big Bad in the film. Sorry, but if you choose to go off in the middle of nowhere and stay in some creepy dwelling with signs of sketchiness all around it? You deserve whatever you get.

    1. Amen. What happened to the great psychological thrillers? Did they get too cerebral for the current crop of writers? And the only American action films I respect all seem to come from Joss Whedon (Serenity, Avengers, etc). I mean, I like Guillermo Diaz but when he's got a great cast (Blade II) the movie blows, and when he has mostly good cast (Pacific Rim), it's meh because we can't take the white guy seriously...among other issues.
